Welcome to the dabble series where you can try up to 4 different fibre arts.

Each class is an individual sign up. The first class is $25.00 and each additional class you sign up for you will receive a $5.00 refund. Sign up for all 4 and save $15.00

Classes are from 1pm to 3pm

Nov 2nd - Knit! Make a knit wash or dishcloth while learning to read a simple         knitting pattern (provided)

  • Learn the very basics of knit pattern reading
  • A brief history, applications and beauty of knit fabric
  • Learn the long tail cast on, knit stitch and regular bind off

Materials needed

  • Scissors
  • 50 grams of #4 worsted weight cotton yarn (Sudz, Lily Sugar n Cream)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
  • Knitting needles will be provided

 

Nov 9th - Crochet! Make a wash or dishcloth while learning to read a simple crochet pattern (provided)

  • Learn the very basics of crochet pattern reading
  • A brief history, applications and beauty of crochet fabric
  • Learn the chain stitch, single crochet and double crochet

Materials Needed

  • Scissors
  • Crochet hook (5.0mm to 5.5mm)
  • 50 grams of #4 worsted weight cotton yarn (Sudz, Lily Sugar n Cream)
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends

 

Nov 16th - Spin! Learn how to spin your own yarn from wool while using the hook and dowel method

  • Brief overview of types of fibre
  • A brief history, applications and beauty of handspun yarn
  • How to draft, spin and set a finished yarn

Materials Needed

  • Fibre suitable for spinning such as Corriedale or BFL
  • Spinning tool will be provided

 

Nov 23rd - Weave! Learn how to weave a miniature tapestry using a primitive loom

  • A brief history, applications and beauty of woven fabric
  • How to 'dress' a primitive loom
  • How to plain weave
  • How to weave soumak stitch
  • How to hemstitch

Materials Needed

  • Yarn scraps as short as 1 meter, all yarn weights will work and varied texture and thickness is encouraged
  • Yarn scraps will also be provided by Yarn Over
  • Yarn needle to weave
