These coasters are a great introduction to double knitting and make for a quick gift idea. Pair them with a new mug and hot chocolate.
Double knitting is a form of hand knitting in which two fabrics are knitting simultaneously on a pair of needles. Double knitting is reversible and it is a way of knitting color work without having to trap floats.
There are many items one can make with this technique such as scarves, toques, mitts and cowls to name a few.
Skills Needed: knit, purl, long tail cast on and bind off.
Pattern: Cuppa Coaster Pattern includes a chart and written instructions.
If you would like to choose a different image check out Nifty Knitter Designs.
Yarn Needed: Worsted or DK weight yarn in 2 contrasting color. It is best to use a natural fibre such as wool or cotton. You do not need much of each color.
Straight Needles Needed: You want to use a needle size smaller than what is recommended on the yarn label to get a tight knit. For worsted weight we recommend a 4mm. For DK weight we recommend a 3.25mm to 3.75mm.
Class fee is $45.00 (materials not included)
Classes are on June 14th and 21st from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
